The German Society for Biomaterials announces the following awards annually:
The German Society for Biomaterials supports early-career researchers each year with awards for outstanding medical, life science or engineering • doctoral theses (prize money €1,000) and • undergraduate or master’s theses (prize money €750). The application deadline is 1 May of each year.
Applications are open to anyone who is either a member of the DGBM themselves or belongs to a DGBM laboratory group and whose mentor is a DGBM member. All theses may be considered, provided they were not completed (defended) before 1 January of the preceding year.
The award ceremony takes place during the DGBM Annual Conference. The award winners must be present in person. To apply for the Research Grant, please submit the following application documents:
Travel grants for an international conference (€500 each) Early-career researchers (undergraduates, PhD students or research assistants) with an accepted conference paper may apply, provided they are either members of the DGBM themselves or belong to a DGBM laboratory association. The application deadline is 1 May of each year. Grant recipients undertake to submit a conference report of approximately one page, which will be published in the DGBM members’ newsletter.
To apply for the travel grant, please submit the following application documents:
Early-career researchers attending a DGBM Annual Conference for the first time are particularly encouraged to summarise their experiences in a short report for the Society’s members’ letter and newsletter. In return, the DGBM will reimburse the authors for the conference fee for the following year’s Annual Conference. Award winners are encouraged to play an active role in the work of the DGBM’s Young Scientist Forum (YSF), which acts as a representative body for early-career researchers within the society.
